Toyota announced that the Hilux, the most popular bakkie in South Africa, is now available in Black!
After reclaiming the bragging rights of calling their Hilux the best-selling bakkie in South Africa (for the month of July), Toyota fired another shot at the Ford Ranger, their biggest competitor in the to-and-fro battle for SA’s best bakkie. Just months after Ford added their Fx4 Limited Edition (also in – you guessed it – black), Toyota have released the new Hilux Raider Black Limited Edition.
Unlike the Ranger, the Hilux isn’t fully black (it comes in 3 exterior colours: Glacier White, Chromium Silver and Graphite Grey), but it has been fitted with a black roof, grille, front bumper and exclusive 18” alloy wheels, and once inside you’ll be greeted with black leather seats and carbon-fibre looking trims.
The Black Limited Edition is powered by the same 2.8-litre turbodiesel engine providing 130 kW of power, and comes with either a 6-speed manual transmission (offering 420 Nm of torque) or a 6-speed automatic transmission (450 Nm). The new Hilux comes in 4×2 and 4×4, and prices range from R521 100 for the 2×4 manual to R604 300 for the 4×4 automatic.
