Q: How does CarZar calculate the value of my car?

CarZar makes use of an intelligent algorithm that calculates your car value using the information you provide when completing the online valuation form. However, the first valuation is purely based on generic data and does not take into account special features, unusual customisation or damages. Thus the final price valuation is based on the outcome of the physical inspection conducted by one of CaZar’s valuation experts.

Q: What are your opening hours?

We are open from 9AM till 5PM from Monday to Friday.

Q: Why do I have to enter my e-mail when I request an online valuation?

We protect your privacy and will only use your e-mail details to communicate your car’s valuation and confirm your booking appointment.

Q: Why do I have to enter my contact details to book an inspection?

We protect your privacy and we will only use your contact details to contact you about your inspection. We won’t share your personal details with any 3rd party, nor will we send unrequested marketing material.

Q: I no longer want to receive your emails.

Please click on the Unsubscribe link in our emails footer, you will be automatically removed from our mailing list.

Special Circumstances & Requirements:

Q: My car does not run anymore. Would you still buy it?

Unfortunately we don’t work with non-runner vehicles. Get it up and running and we can talk about making you an offer.

Q: Can I Sell my imported car to CarZar?

Why not, as long as it’s running and registered in South Africa we will buy it! Let one of our experts inspect your vehicle and provide a valuation.

Please note that the offer we will make is based on your car’s residual value and that the vehicle will be depreciated compared to its current market value.

Q: My car is registered out of South Africa. Would you still buy it?

Right now, we only buy cars registered in South Africa. We will however be launching in more markets soon, sign up to our newsletter and be the first to know.

Q: I have a van, would you buy it?

We only buy passenger cars at the moment, but stay tuned because we may start buying vans soon. Sign up to our newsletter and be the first to know.

Q: Can I sell a car on behalf of a family member or friend?

We only buy cars for which the owner’s signature and proof of ID are available. If you are able to present these documents together with your family member or friend’s authorisation letter, then we will make an offer to buy the vehicle!

Q: Can I sell the car of a deceased relative?

We’re very sorry for your loss. Unfortunately, in order to ensure the safest car selling experience to all our customers, we only buy a car when the registered owner’s signature and proof of ID are available. But don’t worry, all you have to do is to transfer the car onto your name.

Q: Can I sell a car on behalf of a Company?

If you are the proxy of the company (as registered with the traffic department) and you are formally authorised by the signatories, then yes. We just need the company to send us an invoice to complete the transaction. If your company is selling several vehicles at once (defleeting), please contact us so we can arrange visit for bulk valuation.

Online Valuation Process

Q: How do I request a valuation?

Getting an online valuation of your car is very easy, visit www.carzar.co.za. And follow these simple steps to find out what’s your car worth!

You will need to have the following details at hand:

  • Car’s details: make, model, year and mileage.
  • Personal information to receive an instant email with your online quote.
  • Follow the quick process to capture your details and an obligation free online valuation will then be generated for you.

Q: There is no option to choose my car from the valuation form list?

We hold information on most car manufacturers. If your car is not listed on our website, please contact us with your car details (make, model, year, model type, mileage and colour) and a contact number and one of our experts will provide you with a valuation.

Q: I got my online valuation. How long is it valid for?

The online valuation is valid for 7 days after issue, this is due to weekly vehicle price fluctuations. Remember our online valuation service provides a rough estimation of your car’s market value. Once a full physical inspection is done CarZar will make you a final offer.

Q: My car has many additional custom features, is this considered in the valuation?

Our online valuation doesn’t account for special features, unusual customization or damages. These features will be picked up during the physical inspection and price amendments will be made in your final offer.

Q: I didn’t receive an email with my online valuation!

The car’s valuation emails are usually sent within moments. If have not received your car’s valuation email after 20 minutes, please check your spam or junk folders.

Alternatively you may have entered an incorrect email address, please try again. If you still do not receive a valuation email please contact us directly, our customer service will be happy to help you.

Physical Inspection & Appointments

Q: How do I book an inspection?

Booking your appointment is easy!

  • You can choose to bring your vehicle to the nearest inspection centre or we can do a call out inspection to the most convenient location for you.
  • Select the date and time that you prefer from our calendar and hit the confirmation button.
  • We will send you an email to confirm booking details.

Q: How long does the inspection take?

Your appointment with us will be no longer than 30 minutes.

Q: What steps are taken during inspection?

During this time one of our experts will carry out a detailed inspection of your vehicle, including a brief test drive. At the end of the inspection we will make you our best offer for your car and if you agree to sell your vehicle to us, we will complete the necessary documentation and make a same-day payment to your bank account.

Q: Where are your centres located?

Cape Town:

Our Main inspection centre is located at 125 Buitengracht Street, Cape Town City Centre, 8000.

If this location is not convenient for you, but you are located in Cape Town, don’t panic! Simply tell us where you are while making your booking and one of our experts will be glad to conduct a offsite visit to your location.

Other Areas:

Are you located outside the Cape Town area? Unfortunately, we are operating only in the Cape Town region at the moment, but stay tuned because we are coming to your region very soon!

Q: How do I change the time or date of my booked inspection?

When you made your booking with us, we sent you a confirmation email containing your appointment details. That email contains a link for you to easily edit your booking in two easy steps.

Alternatively you are welcome to contact us and one of our agents will be happy to assist you with your request.

Q: Can I visit an inspection centre without an appointment?

You don’t always have to book an appointment if visit one of our inspection centres directly. Although to avoid disappointment or a long wait, we do advise you that you first contact the centre to ensure that they are open and have capacity to check your car.

Q: Do you provide a collection service for inspection?

Yes we do, but currently collection for inspection is only available in the Cape Town area.

Q1: Do I need to provide any documentation with the inspection?

Yes you do, please bring the following documentation:

  • South African ID or Passport ID ( If you are a non-south African national – your passport and a copy of your Traffic Registration Number. )
  • The Vehicle documents (Original and latest documentation for the vehicle, like Natis, License, Roadworthy, etc.)
  • Both sets of car keys (if available).
  • Service history book (if available).
  • Bank details for an account in the name of the registered owner.
  • If the vehicle has any finance outstanding, you will need to provide a letter from the finance company which includes settlement figures. This can be provided post inspection, but will make you ineligible for same day payment.

Q: What if I do not have all the required documentation on inspection?

We will always advise you to bring all the required documentation with you to your inspection appointment. If any of the necessary documents are missing but you intend to sell your car to CarZar, we will be happy to sign a legally binding purchase agreement. However, the payment will only be processed once you provide the missing documents and all is in order.

Post Inspection:

Q: What happens after the inspection?

Once our experts have inspected your car in person we will make you an offer. If you are happy with the final offer we can proceed with the necessary paperwork for purchasing your car.

Q: What happens if I accept the offer and agree to sell my car?

Once you agree to sell us your car we take care of the paper work and make a same-day payment to your bank account.

Q: Can I leave my car at your inspection centre?

If you agree to sell us your car, you may leave your vehicle at our inspection centre.

Finance & Payment Queries:

Q: What do these services cost me?

Our services are 100% free and will give you a true understanding of your car’s value.

Q: Will you charge me any fees for buying my car?

Our service is 100% free and we won’t charge you anything whether you decide to accept or reject our offer for your vehicle.

Q: How do you guarantee that I will get your payment?

Once you agree to sell us your car we will sign a purchase agreement that will include the transaction details and terms and conditions. Once the documentation is signed off we will make a same-day payment to your bank account. You will receive a SMS from our bank confirming the transaction plus a printed proof of payment.

Q: I have an outstanding finance against my vehicle. Would you still buy it?

If our offer is more than the outstanding loan amount then of course we will. All you have to do is to request a Settlement Letter from your bank, we will then pay for the outstanding loan amount and any eventual balance. The car will then be transferred under our name.

Q: What if my outstanding loan amount is less than the offer from CarZar?

In the situation that the outstanding loan amount of your car is higher than our offer, you need to settle the difference before we complete the transaction.

Q: Why can’t I get the money before the car has been booked for an inspection?

Please understand a car’s true value cannot be assessed through a brief online questioner. Thus it is important to make sure we inspect your car physically before we make you an offer to purchase. Following the inspection your original quote may increase or decrease depending on added features we have not taken into account during the initial online valuation.

Payment:

Q: When will payment be processed?

We pay you instantly! If you are happy with our offer, we will sign off the necessary documentation and initiate the payment. Our service is hassle-free, we take care of all the paperwork for you!

However, if your vehicle is under finance, we can’t pay you on the same day.

Q: How will you make the payment for my car?

For sense of convenience and safety, we make our payments via internet bank transfers at no cost to you.

Q: When will I receive the money?

The transaction will be initiated as soon as the purchase agreement is signed and all the documentation is in order. The payment may take up to 24 hours to reflect into your bank account. However payments initiated after 3 pm on a Friday only will reflect on the following Monday.

Q: Will you make the payment to my bank account even if I am not the car’s legal owner?

You may act as an agent on behalf of the car’s owner during the selling process, but we can only perform the payment in a different bank account, if the car’s legal owner specifies this in the purchase agreement, i.e. that payment should be made into a different bank account.

Q: What happens to my car’s ownership status once you buy it?

As soon as we buy the car, the vehicle’s ownership will be legally transferred within a maximum of 48 hours and you will not be held liable for anything associated to your car. CarZar guarantees a 100% safe selling process.
