    We don’t! At your inspection, a third-party inspector from DEKRA or KwikFit will describe the condition of your car, and provide a free roadworthy test.   • What are your opening hours?

    We are open every Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. However, appointments can be booked from 8 am.

  • How does CarZar calculate the estimated online value of my car?

    CarZar uses a unique algorithm to calculate a fair estimated offer for your car. Our algorithm takes into account various factors, which include the year, make, model, transmission, fuel-type, variant and mileage.

    In addition, we also refer to your car's current trends within the market and historical data from previous transactions. In turn, these provide an obligation-free and transparent estimated offer.

If all the documentation is in order, one of CarZar’s car buyers will require you to sign a Vehicle Sales Contract, which is a binding agreement stating that the Seller sells and transfers to the Purchaser the particular make, model, year and registration number of a particular motor vehicle.     If you decide to sell your car at a later stage, note that your online car valuation is valid for 7-days.   • I didn’t receive an email with my online valuation!

    CarZar aims to send your car’s estimated value immediately via email. However, this may take up to a few minutes.

    If you have not received an email providing your car’s online valuation after 20 minutes, perhaps try checking your spam or junk folder.

    Alternatively, you may have entered an incorrect email address. In this case, you can request a new online quote with the correct email address or a different one.

  • Can I leave my car at your partner inspection location?

    After you’ve sold your car to CarZar and have provided us with all the relevant documentation required, it will be required that you leave the car with us after car sale has concluded, as the vehicle will thereafter be the property of CarZar.

    After selling your car to CarZar, we keep the car and we’ll Uber you home.

  • Do you provide a collection service for inspections?

    At CarZar, we ensure that our customers receive the best possible offer for their car and a seamless car selling experience throughout the entire process.

    Collection services are only required for off-site inspections - car inspections that do not take place at one of our DEKRA or KwikFit partner locations.

    In this case, CarZar uses an express transportation company to collect your vehicle, after you have sold your car to CarZar. You, therefore, do not need to worry about the hassle of having your car delivered to us.

    However, collection times may vary:

    • If we buy your car in the morning or early afternoon, we will be able to collect your car on the same day.
    • If we buy your car late afternoon, we will only be able to send our vehicle collection services to you on the next day.

    All you need to do is sell your car to CarZar, and our administrator will take care of the collection services and collection times for you.

  • Can I visit an inspection centre without an appointment?

    DEKRA and KwikFit are CarZar’s choice of partner inspection locations. As DEKRA and Kwikfit are independent inspection and roadworthy centres, CarZar customers can only attend an inspection by booking an inspection date and time slot at one of the partner locations available on the list.

    Alternatively, if getting to the inspection location is a bit of a hassle, we’ll send our professional CarZar inspector to your doorstep. However, please note that availability of this service may differ across different areas.

  • How do I change the time or date of my booked inspection?

    So, you’ve scheduled an appointment and received a confirmation email, but would like to amend the booking date or time… All you need to do is:

    • Step 1: Go to the original email confirming your inspection details.
    • Step 2: Click on the “Update Booking” button.
    • Step 3: Edit your booking according to your preferences.

  • My car has many additional custom features. Is this considered in the valuation?

    When getting a free online calculation for your car’s current market value, CarZar’s algorithm does not calculate any additional custom features. Hence, you need to schedule an inspection to make sure that these extra features can be accounted for in your final cash offer. After your obligation-free inspection, you can decide between:

  • Do I need to provide any documentation at the inspection?

    If you want to avoid expensive fines that do not belong to you, as well as ensure a clear vehicle track record in terms of road traffic violations, it’s probably best to ensure that the car buyer applies for a ‘Change of Ownership or Titleholder Particulars for a Vehicle at their local Traffic Department. However, in order to do this, they will need particular paperwork and forms from you.

    Apart from the vehicle’s NaTIS, we’ll require you to hand over all your vehicle’s registration documents. Avoid the hassle of complicated car sale processes by making sure you, as the second-hand car seller, provide the following documents:

    • Original NaTIS of the vehicle
    • Settlement letter (if financed)
    • A copy of your ID or Passport
    • Proof of address
    • Proof of bank details
    • Full proof of Service History

    If your vehicle's ‘change of ownership’ was transferred onto your name within the last 3-months, you will be required to provide CarZar with supporting documents as proof of purchase. For example:

    1. If purchased from a dealership, the car seller has to provide the invoice of the car purchase.
    2. If purchased privately, the car seller has to provide the previous NaTIS of the car.
  • I got my online quote. How long is it valid for?

    Due to the fluctuation of vehicle pricing within the market, the estimated offer you receive for your car will be valid for only 7-days after issue.

  • What if I do not have all the required documentation upon inspection?

    In order to purchase your vehicle legally, CarZar requires at least:

    • A copy of your identity
    • Proof of address
    • The vehicle’s original NaTIS form

    If the above documents are not available, unfortunately, we will not be able to buy your second hand car.

    Although not having a full Service History is not a complete train smash, it can reduce your car’s market value by up to 10%.     You may act as an agent on behalf of the car’s owner during the selling process, but we can only perform the payment in a different bank account, if the car’s legal owner specifies this in the purchase agreement, i.e. that payment should be made into a different bank account.

  • What if my outstanding loan amount is less than the offer from CarZar?

    At CarZar, we settle the full outstanding amount with the bank, in order to receive the car seller’s original documents. For example,

    If the bank settlement is R100 and CarZar offers the customer R80 then:

    • The Customer pays CarZar R20
    • CarZar pays the bank the full R80

    If the bank settlement is R80 and CarZar offers the customer R100 then:

    • CarZar pays the customer R20
    • CarZar pays the bank R80
  • I have an outstanding finance against my vehicle. Would you still buy it?

    Generally, second hand car sellers only sell their car if it has already been paid off. In this case, they’ll most likely have the vehicle’s original NaTIS (National Traffic Information System) documents available. However, if your vehicle is still being paid off or ‘financed’, acquiring the NaTIS will be slightly more tricky.

    If your vehicle is still being financed - not paid-off yet - you’ll be required to provide us with a copy of the NaTIS, as well as a settlement letter from the bank.

  • What happens to my car’s ownership status once you buy it?

    Your vehicle’s change of ownership will be legally transferred within 2 working days from the date of the vehicle purchase.

    Apart from the vehicle’s NaTIS, we’ll require you to hand over all your vehicle’s registration documents. Avoid the hassle of complicated car sale processes by making sure you, as the second-hand car seller, provide the following documents:

    By signing the Vehicle Sales Contract, the used car buyer agrees to the terms and conditions of the motor vehicle sale - which generally include:

    • The Seller warrants that the Seller has the full right and authority to sell and transfer the vehicle and hereby indemnifies the Purchaser against ejectment;
    • The Seller warrants that the vehicle is sold free of liens and encumbrances;
    • The vehicle is sold as is, voetstoots;
    • The Seller shall sign such forms and deliver to the Purchaser such documents as may be necessary to enable the Purchaser to register the vehicle in his name;
    • The price payable by the Purchaser to the Seller for the Vehicle
