KwaZulu-Natal – ‘Stolen cars’ are making its way to the top of the list within South Africa’s category of major car crimes.
The dates between June 24th and July 7th witnessed deep crime investigation throughout the city of Durban and surrounding regions.
According to police spokesperson, Thulani Zwane, Durban has experienced a car crime syndicate worth a rough estimate of R3.5-million, in stolen vehicles.
On a positive note, provincial police have announced on Sunday that its investigation team of officers recovered 45 stolen and hijacked vehicles – one suspect has also taken a shove into the jail pit. However, with investigations still underway, more suspects are expected to be placed behind bars.
The stolen cars were discovered altered and vehicle registration numbers tweaked.
Does this mean that car criminals are not the only ones involved in crime syndicates?
According to news24, Thulani Zwane revealed that some cars were reintroduced onto the national administration traffic information system, eNatis.
